My name is Emmanuelle Botte, I am a scientific advisor, writer and editor. After my PhD, I worked as a microbial ecologist for 13 years in Australia. I have published 26 articles in 15 different journals, including as first author in Nature Communications. In 2023, I launched Manuscribe to help scientists communicate their findings in the most compelling fashion. Since then, I've worked on dozens of projects with scientists from around the world.
I help PIs to reduce their ever-growing pile of papers, and students to improve their writing skills; I advise on publication strategy and how to best "sell" your work to journal editors or grant reviewers. I always provide detailed comments to justify the edits I suggest, but also to pass-on my skills, which is especially important with early-career scientists.
At a time when generative AI is profoundly transforming our societies, including science and teaching, I contribute to ensuring that the younger generations keep writing!
My track-record is a testament to my expertise in life sciences (biology, ecology, genetics, biochemistry, evolution).
I am a member of the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME), the Australasian Medical Writers Association (AMWA); I am internationally accredited by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS), and I am a professional member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd), where I sit in the Special Interest Group for Academic Editors.
My goal is to help you achieve excellence in scientific writing through world-class publication strategy and English, regardless of your initial writing level and mother tongue.
For you, I write and edit:
I work according to these principles:
I never use artificial intelligence software (e.g., ChatGPT) to write or edit for you. My clients' documents are viewed and handled by myself and no one else. This means that your writing and therefore your data remain completely confidential and will never be used by any entity, human or otherwise, until you are ready to publish.
In other words, you remain in total control of the science and knowledge you want to communicate.
